Enio Iommi was a central figure of the Concrete Art movement in South America and one of the most recognizable Constructivist sculptors in Argentina. He moved with his family to Buenos Aries in the 1940s, where he became influenced by developing artistic movements such as Asociación Arte Concreto Invención (a group heavily influenced by the French artist, Piet Mondrian) and Arte Madí (the group that Carmelo Arden Quin is considered the father of). Both of these groups rejected figuration and representation, striving for the ultimate abstraction. Iommi continued to be a major figure in the Concrete Art Movement, making work and teaching in Buenos Aires well into his 80s.
