Brise Soleil
Brise Soleil is a generative art series by Ledezma, inspired by a stroll through Marbella, Panama City, where a building’s sunshade captivated his imagination. This encounter sparked an algorithmic reinterpretation of the brise soleil — a key feature in 20th-century modernist architecture designed to diffuse sunlight while preserving indirect light. The artwork features four block types appearing with varying probabilities, with vertical blocks most prominent, influenced by adjacent arrangements.
“As an artist, it is inevitable for me to deconstruct the world around me into layers of light, into patterns,” says Ledezma. “Whether through art or science, practically all of reality can be broken down into codes, patterns, and algorithms.”
In real-time mode, the shadows evolve with the time of day, inviting viewers to contemplate the interplay of structure, light, and the hidden codes shaping our perception of the world.
