PXL DEX
PXL DEX is a series of fully on-chain real time animations, where each pixel is a token in itself. PXL DEX is the first artwork within the PXL ecosystem, an ongoing work series to experiment with pixels as utility tokens. The collection consists of 256 NFTs that are deployed via a custom Smart Contract on the Ethereum Mainnet.
On-chain real-time animations commissioned by Tribute Labs and curated by XX DAO.

Alternate
Alternate is a collection of abstract, real-time animations that evolve continuously from simple compositions and color palettes into intricate geometries and rich color depths. Each pixel’s movement is restricted to its eight neighboring pixels, advancing precisely one pixel per frame, creating a mesmerizing rhythmic flow. Uniquely, Alternate integrates the preview image into its field of action, making it an essential part of the artwork. This dynamic piece blurs boundaries between stillness and motion, offering a continuously unfolding visual experience.
COLORS OF NOISE
The “color” of noise refers to the frequency distributions that describe specific spectral properties. This concept is analogous to the idea of the color of light and refers, for example, to white, pink, or brown noise. The effect of each color depends on how it is used and the context in which it is applied: while white noise generates a flat spectrum on a frequency graph, helping a person to sleep, the sonic pink noise hue is deeper and promotes concentration.
Asendorf has developed an algorithm that generates intricate and dynamic patterns of color-based noises. The algorithm processes these noises by shaping different frequencies, creating distinct properties of different colors.
This series was exhibited on Feral File in May 2023, as part of the COLORS OF NOISE exhibition, curated by Peggy Schoenegge.

Cargo
Cargo is an abstract generative artwork by Kim Asendorf that transforms pixel animations into dynamic, ever-evolving compositions. The piece explores the duality between macro and micro visual elements, using animated pixels that continuously move and shift without repetition. Part of Asendorf’s ongoing series of pixel pattern animations, Cargo employs a unique flip-flop render buffer technique, where each animation frame feeds into the next, creating a reactive and layered visual experience.
The artwork is responsive and pixel-exact, adapting seamlessly to different screen sizes while maintaining crisp, artifact-free rendering. Asendorf uses JavaScript and GLSL to craft intricate patterns that emerge and reset, balancing chaos and order through a set of animation and reset algorithms.
Cargo offers a mesmerizing interplay of detail and rhythm, inviting viewers to interpret its dynamic systemics while losing themselves in its endless motion. It continues Asendorf’s exploration of pixel art’s conceptual and aesthetic boundaries.

SABOTAGE
Sabotage is a series of real time animations that move pixels in a simple but oddly surprising way. Central to the animation are various sets of patterns such as grids, lines and gradients that are arranged on the canvas to create an initial state of order. The rows start to shift to the left and right and in the middle of the canvas: the “saboteur” is shifting pixels from the top to the bottom to manipulate the order of the patterns. The process runs endlessly and mixes pixels into new compositions while also restructuring the order on its edges.

Event Horizon
Created for Bright Moments Tokyo, Event Horizon is a responsive real-time animation series. Each piece is a minimal simulation of circular energy fields that are traveling along paths to manipulate all matter within their reach. Various energies are mixing and interacting when colliding in the same space, creating dynamics and movements that alter the underlying grid and draw new patterns along their way through space.
