Mitchell F. Chan is a conceptual artist whose work explores the systems that shape how we create, exchange, and assign meaning to art. He has been described by one critic as “committed to the most serious ideas of conceptualism in the most playful way possible.” Deeply interested in games and game mechanics, Chan often uses them as a framework for engaging audiences in participatory experiences and decentralized authorship.

Chan is best-known for creating one of the earliest non-fungible token artworks, 2017's Digital Zones of Immaterial Pictorial Sensibility. His diverse body of work is performed in both physical and digital public spaces, and includes code-based works such as his 2021 Art Blocks project LeWitt Generator Generator and large-scale public projects such as 2022's Monument to United Nations Peacekeeping Veterans.
