OSGEMEOS
Brazilian
Born 1974
Live and work in São Paolo, Brazil
The duo OSGEMEOS is formed by twin brothers Otávio and Gustavo Pandolfo, who got their start as graffiti artists. Under their chosen moniker, OSGEMEOS, they create a fantastical private universe filled with bright yellow, long-limbed characters and surrealistic landscapes. Their works, which span paintings, murals, sculpture, installation, and video, reflect contemporary and folkloric Brazilian culture in addition to the twins’ aesthetic influences, which include hip-hop, contemporary global youth culture, and the world of graffiti that launched their career.
As quatro estações
2009
Mixed media with sequins on wood doors
215.5 × 295.5 × 6.5 cm; 85 × 116.5 × 2.5 in
While this work is titled “The Four Seasons,” it is more allegorical than literal. The artists’ idea behind As Quatro Estações is to represent the idea of transience, of constant fluidity, and not necessarily that each of the women represents a season.
