2% of disorder in co-operation
Created on the occasion of her 98th birthday, the series was Molnar’s very first venture into creating on-chain digital works.
Each work from 2% of disorder began as a blank 10x10 grid. Visitors to Molnar’s studio are asked to pick out and fill in a square using a color of their choice. Molnar then responds by selecting a second square based on the visitor’s input and filling it black. The result is a 2% colored grid, a sparse composition filled with the tension of silent dialogues and reciprocal gestures. Out of all the resulting grids, Molnar selected just 14 that fit her intuitive criteria of a “visual event.”

Themes and Variations
Produced in collaboration with Martin Grasser, Themes and Variations is Molnár's first (and only) on-chain generative art project, and is her personal reflection on her decades of algorithmic art practice in the midst of the NFT boom. This series showcases 500 unique artworks that explore abstract compositions using the letters “N,” “F,” and “T.”
Embracing disorder, Molnár programmed her algorithm to allow the machine to challenge her rules and uncover new creative possibilities. The project’s title echoes the musical variations she still feels connected to, despite having stopped playing the piano at 15.
