Automatism is a generative art project inspired by the artistic practice of automatic drawing, where artists intuitively and mindlessly create symbols and forms. Drawing on this concept, Automatism explores what a machine’s “mind” might produce when granted similar creative freedom. Utilizing a random walk algorithm, the virtual “Sharp-E” generates strokes composed of irregular curves, straight lines, and sudden directional shifts, avoiding overlaps. The output invites viewer interpretation, prompting questions about perception, symbols, and meaning. Automatism bridges human creativity and machine logic, encouraging active engagement with its endlessly evolving visual forms.
