Eugenia Crenovich (known as Yente) was an Argentine painter and a pioneer of Latin American abstraction. While she was a key figure in the development of modern art in Argentina, her contributions remained relatively overlooked during her lifetime. Born in Buenos Aires to a family of Russian immigrants, Yente initially studied philosophy before turning to art, learning from influential modernists such as Joaquín Torres-García. She frequently explored spiritual and philosophical themes in her paintings, reflecting her belief that abstract art had the power to transcend material reality and express universal truths. Her works often convey a sense of balance and harmony, blending rational geometric order with fluid, dynamic movement.
